Freelance Production Assistant for a holiday cover.

We are looking for a Production Assistant to do a holiday cover from 24th July to 1st September 2017.

We are most interested in hearing from people who have previous production experience and are passionate about animation. You would need to be organised, meticulous, have good oral and written communication skills. Ideally we would need someone with knowledge of both 2D and 3D animation  pipelines.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office package essential, knowledge of Shotgun a plus.

Note that this is to work in-house in our studio in London and we can only consider applicants who have the right to work in the UK.

The Amazing World of Gumball – Season 6 Recruitment

We are currently recruiting for the following roles

  •  Mid level/Senior 2D Key Animators (Start Dates: Asap):  we are looking for 2D key animators who feel confident working with flash puppets as well as traditional animation, only mid/senior artists will be considered.
  • Mid to Senior Level 3D Animator (Start Date: August/September 2017): we are looking for an experienced mid/senior artist with a strong character animation reel. Knowledge of Maya is essential.
  • Series Compositing Supervisor (Start Date: 24 July 2017): We are looking for a strong compositing lead with experience of mixed-media projects (especially 3D Animation and live action). Knowledge of After FX and photoshop essential.
  • Junior Compositor (Start Date: October 2017): we are looking for a junior compositor to work on Key Shots alongside the Supervisor in our studio in London. He/She must feel confident working with  mixed-media material and will have worked with 2D and 3D animation. Knowledge of After FX and photoshop essential.

SERIES COMPOSITING SUPERVISOR

Great Marlborough Productions Ltd in partnership with Cartoon Network London is looking for a SERIES COMPOSITING SUPERVISOR for Season 6 of “The Amazing World of Gumball”.

The series unique technical challenge for compositing is to integrate 2d and 3D character animation within mixed media environments (including live action, stills, 3D and 2D elements).

The compositing department is split in two, with the Series Compositing Supervisor and one Keyframe Compositor working from London on key shots that are then shared and sent to Studio SOI in Germany where the main composting is happening.  The team in Germany is made of nine artists and two supervisors.

The Series Compositing Supervisor will be working very closely with the directors and art director, who are in-house in London, to set the look and working methodology for each episode, especially those that fall outside of our normal pipeline.

He/She will create key shots that are then shared with the rest of the team in Germany who will spread the look to the rest of the episode.

The Compositing Supervisor will be responsible for reviewing the work of the team in Germany. He/she will also have regular catch-ups with the supervisors at Studio Soi, to discuss any areas they need additional feedback or guidance for.

He/She will also work closely with the edit and production departments, to ensure final episodes meet production standards and are delivered to schedule.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team leader and problem solver.

The Series Compositing Supervisor will have inside-out knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop. He/She must be able to demonstrate the ability to implement different art directions and working with various techniques. He/She will be used to working to tight deadlines. He/She will have to show strong verbal and written communication skills.

Reporting to: Series Creator, Directors and Producer

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Creating key frames for outsource studio to follow on episode with specific looks
  • Discussing feasibility of look and technical issues with the directors, other supervisors and the TD
  • Attending Directors’ briefs for each episode
  • Reviewing work from outsource studio on concurrently running episodes
  • Guiding outsource studio through methodology and technical issues they may encounter
  • Attending final online grade for delivery
  • You may be asked to advise on or attend live action shoots as required

Requirements:

  • 3 year + experience at senior/lead level
  • In depth knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop
  • Previous experience on mixed-media and animation projects essential
  • Previous experience in series a plus
  • Working knowledge of Shotgun a plus

2D Key Animators

Great Marlborough Production Ltd in association with Cartoon Network Studio Europe is looking for experienced 2D KEY ANIMATORS to work on Season 6 of THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL (44 x 11 minutes).

Working from our studio in central London, the 2D animators will be taking each episode through its key frame animation stage. As the show is mixed-media, we work to a 2D and 3D animation pipeline, with the majority of the animation being 2D.

The style of the show requires strong 2-D drawn animation skills, the ability to stay on model, and deliver well executed animation to tight production deadlines.  You will also be required to rough assist full animation on more complex shots, in preparation for the out of house in-betweening.

You will need a thorough working knowledge of Flash & Adobe Photoshop. Previous series experience is preferable.

3D Character Animators

Great Marlborough Productions Ltd in partnership with Cartoon Network London are the producers of “The Amazing World of Gumball” a mixed-media comedy animation series for children 7 to 11 year old. It has been awarded one Grammy and eight BAFTAS among other recognitions.

We are currently recruiting 3D CHARACTER ANIMATORS to work on Season 6 of the show (44 x 11 minutes).

In addition to an in house team of 6 you will be working closely with the 3D Supervisor and responsible for the 3D animation within each episode.  The animation runs on a 2D Flash/3D Maya pipeline and can present the team with many levels of complexity.

The nature of the show will mean that you will need to adapt to a wide variety of stylised & unique characters whilst delivering well executed animation to tight production deadlines.

We will be looking for a strong character reel so if you do not have relevant experience please do not apply for the role at this time.

Knowledge of Maya is essential

2D Flash Inbetweening at Studio Soi

2D Flash Inbetweening,- Cleanup artists @ Studio Soi – starting June 2017

Studio Soi (www.studiosoi.de) in Ludwigsburg, Germany is looking for cleanup artists to work on season 6 of THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL (44 x 11 minutes).
As part of an in house team of 24, you will be taking each episode from keyframe to the final animation, cleaning rough drawings, inbetweening them and doing the lipsync for the characters. This is in pursuit of the out of house key animation at CN London.
The style of the show requires strong 2D drawn animation skills, the ability to stay on model and deliver well executed cleanup drawings while respecting tight production deadlines.
You will need a thorough working knowledge of Flash (CS 5.5).
Good English language skills are required.

Compositing Artists at Studio SOI

Studio Soi (www.studiosoi.de) is looking for experienced After Effects Compositing Artists to work on THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL Season 6 (44 x 11 minutes) starting in August 2017.

As a part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be taking care of the compositing and implementation of 3D renderings, 2D flash animations as well as backgrounds consisting of 3D and live action both still and moving.

Starting from the layout artwork, the background department are responsible for the final look & lighting of each background plate. This involves the use of Maya (Mental Ray) and After Effects for moving backgrounds, as well as designing graphic elements to integrate into the backgrounds.

Requirements:

  • Ready to work in a fast paced series production
  • Good eye for photo-realism and confident with heavy photo manipulation
  • Comfortable with graphic design
  • Good generalist knowledge of the 3D pipeline stages (animation, modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, compositing).
  • Excellent knowledge of lighting and rending with Mental Ray
  • Understanding of linear workflow.
  • Experience projecting matte painting and photographic elements onto 3D geometry in Maya.
  • Modeling, UVing and texturing skills.
  • Good understanding of colour theory, shot composition and camera focal lengths.
  • Ability to trouble shoot technical problems with 3D scenes and optimise renders.

Knowledge:
Required: Maya (Mental Ray), After Effects.

It is not essential to know Photoshop/matte painting for the 3D position but it is preferred.

Knowledge of additional software will be considered.

The style of the show requires strong 2-D drawn animation skills, the ability to stay on model, and deliver well executed animation to tight production deadlines.

You will need a thorough working knowledge of Flash (CS 4 or higher would be a bonus). Previous series experience is preferable, but not essential.
